We have been doing this egg thing for a few years. As part of the process we have expanded our flocks, built and then rebuilt coops, created an small farm stand on our porch, and many other improvements. All of these were baby steps toward our goal to grow our business.
Today we took another step forward, but first a rewind. Last summer we were invited to a farmers market at Ten Trails (a community near our home), and during the market we made many new contacts and sold lots of eggs. One of the contacts was the owner of Shawn's Quality Meats and Smokehouse in Maple Valley. During our conversations with Shawn, he expressed how much he loved our egg carton, as we use an unusual 3x4 size carton.
Let me just say, we dreamed for a while about how cool it would be to eventually have our eggs sold in a store. Well today, because of the contact with Shawn's Quality Meats we now officially have our eggs for sale inside of a store. I could down play this and keep even keeled, but today I will celebrate this step for our farm as we keep our eyes toward the future, while also taking care of the business today.
So if you happen to be in Maple Valley and want to stop by an excellent Meat Market, sing by Shawn's Quality Meats and Smokehouse and while you're there pick up some farm fresh pasture raised eggs from Wild Hills Farm.
What is you favorite meat to add into your eggs?
