Hey friends, I've been toying with the thought of a blog for ages, and to be honest, it just felt so daunting. I mean, I love to write, something I inherited from my dad, but raising babies, running the farm, trying our hand at multiple business ventures and trying to write a blog and run a website just seemed like too much.
But here I am attempting to write something that may be helpful to you, or interesting or maybe just give a little glimpse into our lives.
So, on to the chickens! I have always wanted to be a farmer, like since I was a little kid. I was not raised on a farm or anywhere near one, although my grandparents owned a few acres that they used to farm. That was my favorite place to be growing up. When we bought our little half acre I couldn't wait to fill it with gardens and chickens and anything else I could convince my husband to let me raise. We started with a small flock and had absolutely no idea what we were getting into, but we were excited and enthusiastic! We learned and tried different things and then at some point we had about 25 hens that we loved, and way too many eggs.
Friends and family and neighbors started asking to buy our extras and we realized that from a little hobby we could support our community with healthy, local, fresh, eggs, right out of our little farm. So we decided to bump the flock up and rearrange our yard, build multiple chicken houses and start an actual business.
We jumped in and have had so much fun meeting people and sharing our love for raising chickens, and eating delicious eggs. Thanks for being a part of our community. Check back soon for updates.
Yours sincerely,
The Farmers at Wild Hills Farm
